My names Josh Batten. I'll play any sport. I like to watch Knicks, Giants, and Yankees games. Listening to music is what I do pretty much every minute of the day.

Saturday
Went to Elmira to pick up one of our friends that just got out of jail. That might sound bad but he was there for some bull shitt, came back to Cortland and he gave about 15 people haircuts because I guess hes good. I wouldnt trust him though..fuck that noise. Didnt really do anything that night except play 2k11 until like three in the morning
Friday
Went to Syracuse to visit my friends from high-school. Then went to turning stone again and won $150. My roomate ended up leaving with $400 that night. Then I went back to the college suites to see my other roomates were having a party. I didnt care because I just won $150, after that I dont remember what the hell happened.

Thanksgiving Break
Being home for a week was both good and bad. I was happy to not have class for an entire week, but as soon as I was in Elmira for one day, I realized how boring the next week was going to be. There is nothing to do there unless it is illegal. After the second day I was ready to come back to Cortland. I hung out with most of my friends while I was there, which was cool. Black friday was the only day that I had fun on. I ended up getting the 13s that released that night for $160 and I have never been so happy. I also bought curren$ys new CD Pilot Talk 2 which was totally worth it. Overall that break wasnt even fun. I was kinda happy to come back to school.

Weekend
Cortaca weekend combined with the concert was probably one of the funnest weekends I have ever had. I thought everyone was over exagerating it, but I was dead wrong. Cannot wait to do it again next year.
Wiz Khalifa concert...SUNDAY
Three hours of sleep later I woke up feeling better than ever. Three and a half hour drive to clifton park to see Wiz perform. I slept for about an hour so I wouldnt be tired that night. Stopped at Time Hortons (I think thats the name) and it was the worst food ever. Who could mess up a turkey bacon club. Anyways we then went to some hotdog place called The Dog Shack. Fugggging terrible as well. My friend ended up puking as soon as he ate that. Then we stopped at my other friends parents house to watch some of the Giants game even though they were getting shit on. Left there and forty minutes was at the Wiz concert. We had early entry so we were in the front row which was sick. The opener BIG KRIT was so sick. Mississppi rappers arent that bad even though they are kuntry as fuckk. The dj for him gave one of my friends his joints on stage and we smoked that during the show. I thought that was raw as hell. After 2 hours of waiting Wiz finally came on..and it was crazy. Everyone was smoking in the place which was pretty fly. After the show went to Wendys and slept the entire way home...didnt get back to Cortland until 4...which would be the reason I said eff classes yesterday.
Saturday...Cortland vs Ithaca
Woke up at 9 on Saturday to start the day off. Went and got some chasers at the gas station. Once I got back the festivities began. By the time the game started I was gone. Deffinantly thought Cortland was going to lose because they were down 20 to 3 at the end of the half. At halftime went to campus to get something to eat with my friend. While in the line at dunkin donuts (which was about 40 damn people) I watched the second half of the game. Couldnt believe the come back by cortland. Deffinantly made Cortland's Saturday night way better. Took a taxi downtown and went to a party at my friend from homes house. After that everyone I was with caught a ride back to the suites by the Dominos delivery guy. There was no room for me so I just went to another party. Eventually made it to Witegar hall with these girls where I finally ran in to the bus that goes to the suites. Caught a ride back there and came to find a million people at our suite. Didn't go to bed until eight that night and had a concert to go to the next morning.
Friday
Friday night started pretty early because it was CORTACA weekend. Everyone came to the suites before we went to Cortland campus. Not going to lie I have no clue how I even ended up there. All I remember is leaving my friends behind and finding a new party. Great muhh fuggin night
Thursday
Woke up wya to later Thursday to register for classes at TC3. So I went to the extension center in Cortland, but I wasnt trying to wait in that line. Plus that place is tiny I wasnt diggin it. Felt like I was at the Corning Community College Elmira campus. Because its wack as hell. I dont know when ill register for them now, but i will eventually.

Some words are so deffensive that they should never be stated or written
I strongly agree with this statement. People can disrespect somebody, but some of the things one person says to another should never be said. I have heard one of my roomates say some foul things to girls, I just laugh and think that they should not have said that. Its the fact that noone is as civil as people were ten or fifteen years ago. Racism, sterotypes, and discrimmination are some of the major reasons some words should never be said. I try not to say things that should not be said, but sometimes it happens and you cannot prevent it, but thats when your drunk. Your just a dick if you say some of the things I have heard people say if you are sober.
Nobody is all bad or all good
I disagree with this statement. There are few people in this world that are all bad in my eyes. Rapists, sex offenders, and members of terrorist organizations are the people that I believe to be all bad. There can be people that are all bad, but I do not believe there are people that are all good. Every person eventually does something bad. It's just the fact that they hide it from everybody. This just makes them even more of a bad person. No person is all good.
Its okay to be different...
I don't know what people categorize as a normal person, but being different is always a good thing. I'd rather be different than the kids that come to school everyday, go home do their homework, then go to bed. In high-school I knew me and my friends were different than everyone in our school. We liked to skip classes to smoke and play video games, but still get the same grade as everyone else. All of the people in our class enjoyed drinking rather than smoking, except for my friends. When there was parties we would sit there and smoke while everyone else got drunk. I prefer to be different than everyone else, if you aren't then your just a follower.
All men are created equal
"All men are created equal"
I believe this is not true. Some people get in to more trouble with the law for committing a crime , than other people do. I know wealthy kids that have gotten out of trouble when they did something because they had money. And it seems the kids that are poor and get in trouble, have a more severe consequence. Whether or not it says it in the constitution, there will always be cases when two people committ the same exact crime, but the one with more money gets in less trouble.

Damn
"They can't comprehend or even close to understanding him...guess if I was simple in the mind everything would be fine" Can't even go to my classes today because I found out some bad news. Instead i'm on my way to Elmira for a funeral. Everytime things become good...shit goes wrong. I don't think im diggin it.

Lupe
"Never apologize for being real...ever. Reality is the enemy of fakes, frauds, liars and protectors of ignorance. It scares them."-Lupe Fiasco
Been listening to Lupe since I got done with my classes today. Never realized how sick he really is. Downloaded 3 mixtaoes and bought an album on iTunes by him. Then I followed him on twitter and saw this quote from him. One of the rawest quotes i have seen anyone make on twitter.

Finally
Going home today was a success. Started looking for a new car at noon. Went to Union Endicott and found one at like three. Finally I can get rid of this terrible car that I have. Hopefully this one doesn't break down on me anytime soon. Actually hopefully it doesn't break down on me ever. Also I found a place that will give me five hundred dollars for my old car. I don't know what their thinking because I would not give anyone two hundred dollars for that terrible car. I just got back to the college suites after another long day. When I look back on this weekend I realize it was a pretty good one. And a sober one.
Syracuse
Woke up at eleven yesterday to go to the Syracuse mall. I went with two of my roomates and two of my friends who go to Cortland. It was a good time, but that place was huge. All that walking was killing me. I ate at some asian place. It had the best spicy chicken and bourbon chicken I have ever had. Also I bought a bunch of new things. After four long hours there, we went to the Turningstone casino. I never have been there, so when I got there, I realized why everyone goes there. I did not gamble to much because i'm not much of a gambler. But my friend one two hundred dollars playing black jack, and that was pretty exciting. We left at about nine and it was one of the funnest times I have had since I came to school.

2k11
Long weekend was cool, even though I would rather the whole week off. I went to Elmira from Thursday night until Sudnay afternoon. Did most of my homework while I was home. Also I visited some of my friends that I went to school with. When I came back to Cortland I watched the Giants game against the Texans and they won surprisingly. After watching football all day I did the rest of my homework. When I finished my homework that night, I started playing 2K11. I've been playing it every day since then. Its an addicting game if you like basketball. I'lll probably play it for another couple hours before I go to sleep. Might play before I go to class tomorrow too. Can't forget to say that Brett Favre choked last night against the Jets...JustSaying

Something Ain't Right
Another sick video from my friend from Pittsburg....Something ain't right...what he means about this is that there is so much talent out of this city, but they are over looked by everyone.

This weekend
Have one more class after today before the long weekend. I'm going back to Elmira for all five days. Going to get my financial aid check. Then i'm looking at a new car because my Honda is wack and deffinantly not make it through this winter. I probably won't do much else while i'm there. But its better than sitting at the suites, where everyone is drunk. Just saying.
Consumption
The only money I spent the last three days was on gas. I'm broke other than that. All I ate was canned food and ramen noodles. Oh wait I got McDonalds one day

Use of my time.
I waste alot of time doing nothing at the suites. Xbox and watching movies probably are not the best things to do. But they are the funnest ones. Im trying to take more time for homework and not put it off until the last minute. I don't think i'll ever be able to do that though. The strengths in my time is me playing basketball, doing my homework, playing flag football and nothing else really. I could probably take out all the nights when i go to Cortland, but those are the best parts of ym week
Worst learning experience I remember having
There are so many experiences for me that were absolutly terrible. But the worst one of all was when I went to a party with my friends from Long Island and Elmira. Everything went well until we finally got home at around 2:30 AM. We were hungry, so one of my friends decided to drive when he was drunk. At the time it seemed like it was harmless. McDonalds was only across the bridge. We made it there and were on our way back to my house. While crossing the bridge the lights to my car would not turn back on, and from there we knew we would be pulled over. Next to a convenient store we pulled overto get out and walk the rest of the way. At the same time we did that, a cop pulled up behind us with his lights on. Automatically assuming the driver was drunk, there was nothing we could do but lie. That made the situation worse, and next thing you know the police are searching my car for drugs. Who knows why, but my friend was arrested and taken to jail as soon as he blew into the breathilizer or whatever its called. So me and my friend from Long Island sat there for forty five minutes with our hands on our heads waiting for this german shepard tto get dont searching my car for drugs. Like I told the cops there was nothing in the car so I did not get any charges. They took my car and told me I could pick it up in the morning when I was sober. I learned from this terrible experience because I watched one of my best friends get a DWI that night. When I explained this to my parents, they were tight about it. I learned not to let one of my friends drive a car while they are drunk. That was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. It seemed like a harmless thing to do, but you learn quickly that it was one of the dumbest things for a person to do, especially when you are under 21. Worst experience of my life.
Best learning experiences I remember having
The best learning experience I ever had was finally getting a job. I learned that I have to have a way to get there everyday. Also I learned that my mom was not going to give me money for gas anymore, unless I was completly broke. Another thing I learned is in order to eat every single day of the week, I have to save my money, which I never use to be able to do. I would just blow it on random things, but now I save it because I know that in the real world you have to have money in order to do anything. This was the best learning experience for me because I think it helped me grow up in a way. Even though I am no where close to being an adult, at least this was a start.
Last weekend
I did not spend my last weekend in Cortland like I usually would. Instead i went back to Elmira to take care of things I needed done for school. I had to get my certificate of residency, which was already past the date it was due. They still accepted it, so hopefully my financial aid goes through. Also, when I went home I visited some of my friends that I havn't talked to since I left for school in August. I helped put a fence up around my friends yard to keep the crack heads next door out of his yard. Thats a true story, no exaggeration. But once we finished this I went to Paesanos...the best pizza place in Elmira to eat dinner. It was mad good, I suggest going there if your ever in Elmira. Then on Saturday I went home to talk to my mom. I went out to lunch with her, then got my certificate of residency done. After that I went to Red Lobster to let my managers know when my first break is and when I could work. Went out that night, to bad Elmira's wack and the cop's ruin everything. Woke up the next day and left first thing in the morning to make it back to the suites to watch the Giants vs Titans game. That did'nt go so well, the Giants got wrecked by them.

The Bystander Effect
For all four situations in The Bystander Effect I would react. In situation one I would call the cops so they can arrest the guy. In situation two I would call the cops then try to get the guy off of the women, especially if she did not know the guy. Even if they were married, like in situation three, I would call the cops and break the fight up between them. But in the situation in New York City with Kitty Genovese I don't know what I would do. First I would call the cops, but after that I would not want to interfere because I could be stabbed or I could stab the other guy. I like to stay away from those kind of situations, so I would have to wait for the police to get to the apartments.
Sept. 28 2010
Had today off, happy for that. Still went to campus to do some of my math and history homework. Its alot easier to do my homework there, its impossible to do it at the suite with all of my friends around. Stopped at Subway on the way home and got a buffalo chicken sub. Then I played UFC until four o'clock. Once my rommates all got back from class, some of us watched Notorious to burn time. I finally finished all of my english homework at 10:15. That took about three hours. And I always forget to blog even though its kind of cool, just saying.

Sept 21
Had no classes today, wrote a couple essays and watched season three of Entourage. Even though i've seen it a million times. Went and watched some of the soccer game at TC3 against Corning Community College. They won 7-1 and I was happy because I use to go to CCC. After that i went to the 7 on 7 flag football with my roomates and a couple othe people from school. It was pretty sick, even though the games didn't start tonight, but on Thursday. Now i'm going to write this journal for english, then watch Alpha Dog with some friends.
Monday, September 20, 2010
Classes were wack today. Got and 80 on my math test though. I turned in my essay in english and my paragraphs for reading. Finally got back to my dorm and i'm about to go play football. Then taking a nap for 3 hours. Finishing all of my homework after that. No class tomorrow but I have a flag football game at 5:00.

9/11/2001
On September 11th, 2001 I still lioved in Paso Robles, California. When I woke up my mom was freaking out. It was only seven in the morning in Cali. and I was in fifth grade. The video of the planes crashing on the TV i thought was from a movie, so I didn't think anything of it. When I went ro school that day I realized it was real. My teacher had us take two weeks off from class work to learn about what had happened to our country. My grandfather still lived in New York City, so then I realized why my mom was worried. He lived in Queens, so when we talked to him he said that he was fine. I was young but I understood how serious this situation was and that a war was most likely going to start.
